Hilton Worldwide Holdings reported progress toward its 2030 sustainability goals by reducing its carbon emissions, water use and waste.

HILTON WORDLWIDE HOLDINGS reported progress toward its 2030 environmental and social impact goals, reducing carbon emissions, water use and waste across its hotel portfolio. The company is expanding its social impact through its team members’ actions int the communities they serve.

Hilton's “2025 Travel with Purpose” report said carbon emissions intensity fell by 50.9 percent at managed hotels and 36 percent at franchised hotels from its baseline. Water intensity fell by 37.1 percent and landfill waste intensity by 64.7 percent, allowing Hilton to exceed its 2030 waste reduction target four years ahead of schedule.


"Through Travel with Purpose, we're making meaningful, measurable progress across our people, our hotels and our communities—strengthening the experiences we deliver to guests while driving long-term value for our business," said Katherine Lugar, executive vice president for corporate affairs and president of the Hilton Global Foundation. "From investing in our award-winning culture to advancing more sustainable stays and supporting communities around the world, this work reflects how purpose is embedded in how we compete, grow and lead."

Hilton team members logged more than 1.8 million volunteer hours globally, the statement said. In 2025, the company created more than 686,000 learning and career opportunities and reached more than 2.5 million people through its social initiatives.

Hilton said it is integrating sustainability into new hotel developments, citing the Hilton Garden Inn Brussels Airport, which opened in 2025, as an example. The hotel uses geothermal heating and more than 600 solar panels to operate on 100 percent renewable electricity.

In 2025, Hilton launched the Travel with Purpose Awards to recognize 40 hotel teams for their environmental and community impact.

Through the Hilton Foundation, Hilton is expanding its community programs. Since 2019, the foundation has awarded more than $22 million in grants to support opportunity, resilience and sustainable travel destinations.

In 2025, Hilton distributed more than 2.3 million meals, donated more than 2.4 million pounds of food and diverted more than 2.1 million pounds of waste from landfills through its food donation and waste reduction programs. These efforts reached more than 995,000 people.

In response to the Los Angeles wildfires, Hilton provided 20,000 complimentary hotel nights for more than 7,000 displaced people. Teams across 80 Hilton hotels also assisted affected communities.

Hilton is advancing efforts to combat human trafficking. In 2025, the company worked with industry peers and Protect All Children from Trafficking to launch updated, survivor-informed training available free across the industry to strengthen prevention.

A 2025 study by hotel operator Bob W found that hotel carbon emissions are five times higher than current estimates from frameworks such as the Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative.

In April, Radisson Hotel Group set a target for 100 hotels to reach net-zero status by 2030. The goal builds on last year's pilot of its Verified Net Zero Hotels program, which eliminates fossil fuel use and reduces carbon emissions across operations. The program follows the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels and the Science Based Targets initiative and covers all three emissions scopes.
