CoStar: Weekly metrics fall, annual gains hold

San Francisco led in occupancy and RevPAR gains

U.S. occupancy fell to 66.7 percent for the week ended Aug. 22, CoStar reported. ADR dropped to $159.11 and RevPAR slipped to $106.12.

U.S. HOTEL METRICS fell week over week but rose year over year for the week ended Aug. 22, according to CoStar. San Francisco led the top 25 markets in occupancy and RevPAR gains.

Occupancy declined to 66.7 percent for the week ended Aug. 22, from 68 percent the previous week, but rose 2.1 percent year over year. ADR dropped to $159.11 from $163.56 and climbed 2.3 percent year over year. RevPAR slipped to $106.12 from $111.29 and gained 4.4 percent year over year.


Among the top 25 markets, San Francisco posted the largest gains in occupancy, rising 13.2 percent to 79.1 percent, and RevPAR, climbing 26 percent to $165.

St. Louis, host of the BMW Championship, reported the largest ADR gain, up 11.4 percent to $135.43, and the second-largest gains in occupancy, rising 10.5 percent to 66.8 percent, and RevPAR, climbing 23.1 percent to $90.53.

Las Vegas posted the steepest declines in occupancy, down 17.4 percent to 60 percent, and RevPAR, falling 20 percent to $95.15, while New York City had the largest ADR drop, down 6.8 percent to $262.63.
