G6 HOSPITALITY LAUNCHED “SHIELD6,” a safety training program developed by its safety and security team. It provides hotel owners, managers and teams with safety training, resources and awareness.

The program will help identify ways to grow business and sales through safety strategies that protect guests, staff and the communities they serve, G6 said in a statement. It aims to improve guest safety and security and reduce safety-related concerns in online reviews.

“Safety of our guests is a priority for us and therefore, across all Motel 6 and Studio 6 properties nationwide, our owners and their teams are the ones keeping that promise every single day, on the frontlines,” said Ankit Tandon, G6 vice chairman. “SHIELD6 is our way of standing beside them in that effort, giving them direct access to our safety and security experts, real-world training and the resources to turn safety into a lasting advantage for the business and the communities.”

The program targets hotels where guest feedback indicates a need to strengthen safety, with hands-on support from its safety team, the statement said. Each session brings hotel teams together to review safety and security practices and law enforcement trends affecting the hospitality industry.

Sessions also cover systems and resources available to franchisees, including Delight IQ, Room Next Door training, G6 Hotline training, the Do Not Rent policy, safety guides, SOPs and Safety & Security team contacts.

SHIELD6 will use regional training for hotel GMs, owners and brand performance directors, the statement said. Enrolled hotels will receive program details and an invitation to the next session.

Anuj Ladha, G6’s national head of brand performance, said SHIELD6 aims to give every enrolled franchisee ongoing access to the team, not just a one-time training session.

“Safety is an evolving conversation, and this program keeps our owners, managers and their staff connected to the latest tools, guidance and resources they need to protect their guests and their business,” Ladha said.

In August, G6 held town halls with more than 150 franchisees in seven states. The meetings focused on business performance, initiatives and regional priorities.
