- IHG signs a 350-key InterContinental hotel in Goregaon.
- Property scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2030.
- Hotel to serve business and leisure travelers in Mumbai.
The hotel is in Goregaon, one of Mumbai's busier western suburbs, between Andheri and Malad, the company said in a statement. The property provides access to business districts in Andheri and residential areas toward Malad. It is positioned to serve both business and leisure travelers.
The property is expected to include five dining venues, a spa, fitness center, swimming pool and what the company describes as one of the city's largest ballrooms. The two companies first signed a memorandum of understanding for the project earlier this year. At the time, construction was expected to begin after required planning and approvals were completed.
"We are delighted to partner with [ZHPL] to bring InterContinental Mumbai Goregaon to the city," said Sudeep Jain, IHG’s managing director, South West Asia. “Mumbai continues to demonstrate strong demand across both business and leisure travel and Goregaon's emergence as a growing commercial corridor makes it an ideal location to expand our luxury portfolio.”
Sandip Gupta, ZHPL’s director, said the collaboration builds on the company’s existing relationship with IHG and reflects their shared vision of developing landmark hospitality destinations.
"We are confident the hotel will set a new benchmark for luxury stays in Mumbai.”
IHG franchises more than 237 hotels around the world, with more than 100 in the pipeline.
In February, IHG and Rajdeep Infra & Sales Pvt. Ltd. entered into an agreement to develop a 135-key voco Lucknow hotel.
