- Karnataka plans $10.37 million hotel upgrades.
- Work planned at Hampi, Jog Falls.
- Some hotels to reach three-star standards.
The phased upgrades will focus on improving guest facilities and service standards at the properties. The investment will cover properties in Hampi, Jog Falls, Nandi Hills, Madikeri, KRS and other tourism destinations, according to PTI.
The work will cover guest rooms, bathrooms, restaurants, kitchens, reception and common areas, along with furniture, lighting and landscaping. It will also improve housekeeping, cleanliness, food standards, staff skills, online booking and guest feedback, with some properties moving to three-star and higher service standards.
“We now have to match that advantage with better rooms, quality food and professional hospitality,” said K.J. George, Karnataka tourism minister. “Visitors should not have to compromise on quality simply because they are staying at a government-run hotel.”
M Srinivas, KSTDC chairman, said the upgrades could attract more guests, improve room occupancy and increase revenue.
"Each property will be assessed individually based on its location, visitor demand, current utilization and revenue potential,” said Ram Prasath Manohar, tourism secretary.
At the Indian International Travel Mart in Bengaluru, Karnataka promoted new tourism investment opportunities.
