PRITAM AGARWAL AND Amit Bhansali will develop the 125-key Gateway Siliguri in Siliguri, West Bengal. This takes Indian Hotels Co. Ltd.’s portfolio in the state to 19 hotels, including 11 under development.
The hotel will include two restaurants, a bar, a swimming pool, a gym, a spa, a more than 10,000-square-feet banquet hall, meeting rooms and pre-function spaces, IHCL said in a statement.

“Siliguri serves as a gateway to North Bengal, the Northeast and Bhutan, driving business and leisure demand,” said Suma Venkatesh, IHCL executive vice president for real estate and development. “The signing of Gateway Siliguri strengthens our presence in a high-potential market and is in line with our strategy of expanding in emerging growth centres across the country.”

Siliguri is a gateway to North Bengal, Northeast India and Bhutan. Demand comes from business travel, leisure tourism and transit traffic, with attractions such as the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Coronation Bridge, Trishakti Heritage Complex and Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary nearby.

Agarwal and Bhansali said the hotel will meet growing demand for full-service hospitality in the region.

Separately, IHCL’s Ginger brand reached 100 operating hotels in India, with 95 more under development.
