ANISH HOTELS GROUP acquired the 311-key Wyndham Grand Oklahoma City Downtown in Oklahoma City. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The 15-story hotel is in the Central Business District, across from the new Continental Coliseum, a $1 billion arena that will become home to the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, the company said in a statement. It is near the city’s office towers, the Oklahoma City Convention Center, Bricktown Entertainment District and Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.
The building operated for years as the Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel. It dropped the brand after AHG developed the 182-room Renaissance Oklahoma City Downtown Bricktown Hotel, which opened in 2022. AHG now owns both properties.
Tulsa, Oklahoma-based AHG is led by Founder Andy Patel and President Anish Patel. The acquisition makes the hotel developer and operator the market’s largest hotel-room operator, according to The Oklahoman.
AHG plans to renovate the property, including guestrooms, public spaces, food and beverage outlets, and meeting and event facilities. The renovation will bring the hotel to full-service, upper-upscale standards. The brand affiliation will be announced later.
“This is one of the most distinctive buildings in the Oklahoma City skyline, and it sits on what we believe is the best hotel corner in the state,” said Anish Patel. “With the Continental Coliseum rising directly across the street, our job now is to bring the product up to the standard this location has always deserved.”
In August, SREE Hotels acquired the 130-room Hyatt Place Columbia/Downtown/The Vista in Columbia, South Carolina.
