RED ROOF ENTERED the Canadian market with its first property in Vancouver, British Columbia. Richmond Airport Enterprises Ltd. is converting a Travelodge into the Red Roof PLUS+ Vancouver Airport.

The 160-room property is scheduled to open in July, with presales underway ahead of this summer’s soccer event, Red Roof said in a statement. The hotel is being renovated as part of a capital investment, the statement said.

It is near Vancouver International Airport, Richmond Hospital and River Rock Casino Resort. Amenities include a 24-hour business center, fitness center, hot tub, indoor pool and parking for trucks, buses and motor coaches.

The company expects to convert more properties in Canada over the next several years.

“Canadians are already well acquainted with—and trust—the Red Roof brand through frequent travel to the U.S.,” said Zack Gharib, Red Roof president. “Our brand focuses on delivering smart amenities, modern design and reliable service at a competitive price point—making us an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers.”

Salim Mukadam, Richmond’s senior vice president of operations, said the company is pleased to support Red Roof’s expansion and bring the brand to guests in Canada.

“This launch reflects a true partnership and positions Red Roof PLUS+ Vancouver Airport as a standout addition to the market,” he said.

Canada’s lodging sector shows strong fundamentals,” Gharib said.

“Vancouver, in particular, has been a consistent leader in hotel performance growth over the past several years and is widely expected to continue outperforming the national average, including delivering the highest RevPAR among major Canadian markets,” he said. “This strength makes Vancouver an exceptionally attractive entry point as we expand our presence for business and leisure travelers in Canada.”

Red Roof ended 2025 with gains in operations, technology and franchise demand. Market share rose 2 percent for The Red Collection and 1.1 percent for Red Roof Inn, while the RevPAR Index reached 101.4. The company also added more than 40 women and underserved market owners after launching RIDE and rebranding SHE.
