Hilton Grows India Portfolio with 29 New Hotels by 2029

HILTON WORLDWIDE HOLIDINGS plans to open 29 hotels across India over the next five years to double its brand presence. The company will debut its LXR Hotels & Resorts brand in Bengaluru by 2026.

Hilton recently held its first brand showcase in Bengaluru, featuring 10 brands, including Conrad, DoubleTree, Waldorf Astoria, LXR, Curio Collection and Spark.


“India is a critical part of Hilton’s global growth strategy," said Chris Nassetta, Hilton's president and CEO. "As one of the world’s largest markets, it represents a major opportunity across brand segments – from luxury to premium economy.”

DoubleTree by Hilton is Hilton’s largest brand in India, with 11 open and 12 more planned in cities like Siliguri, Bhopal, Kochi and Chandigarh. The company will open its first Spark hotel in India this year, joining more than 130 globally. New Hampton hotels are set to open across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Bihar.

Clarence Tan, Hilton’s senior vice president of development for Asia Pacific, called India a major growth opportunity, citing rising domestic tourism, improved infrastructure, new privatized airports, and expanded highways.

“Foreign tourist inflow is poised to grow, driven by business travel and enabled by policies like e-Visas,” he told Business Standard.

Tan also noted that India is a nascent market for Hilton, while China leads the Asia-Pacific region with over 800 hotels.

At Hilton’s Brand Showcase in Bengaluru, attendees saw the strategy behind the upcoming campaign featuring global icon and brand ambassador Deepika Padukone.

“We’ve admired her for a long time,” said Gretchen Moore, Hilton’s vice president of marketing and loyalty, APAC. “She reflects the spirit of our guests.”

Hilton’s portfolio includes 24 brands, more than 8,600 properties and nearly 1.3 million rooms across 139 countries. In India, it has 32 hotels with more than 4,000 rooms.

Separately, Hyatt Hotels Corp. plans to open six new hotels in India and one in Nepal in 2025, following 21 signings across India and Southwest Asia in 2024. The focus will be on lifestyle brands like JdV, Andaz, and the newly acquired Standard Hotels.

AAIB report: Fuel cutoff triggered Air India crash
