POLO HOTELS GROUP launched Chapter Hotels & Resorts, a boutique brand targeting travelers seeking destination-focused stays. Its first property, Chapter Lakeside in Tripura, is a 17-key resort scheduled to open later this year.
The resort on Rudrasagar Lake will be near Agartala Airport, Polo said in a statement. With views of Neermahal Palace, it includes a poolside bar, dining and boat transfers.
“We called it ‘Chapter’ because every hotel opens a new part of the destination for the guest,” said Deval Tibrewalla, Hotel Polo Towers’s CEO and whole-time director. “Same brand energy, different local story. The plan is to build more soon — each with its own voice.”
Polo Hotels & Resorts, based in Shillong, is owned by the Tibrewalla family and led by Chairman Kishan Tibrewalla and Deval Tibrewalla.
The brand will include owned, managed and retrofit properties, the statement said. Chapter Resort Upper Shillong, a 37-key property in Meghalaya, will follow. It will be built around a pool amid paddy fields and will be the brand’s first resort in Shillong. The pipeline includes properties in West Bengal, Nagaland and other Northeast destinations, including heritage properties, hill stays, cultural towns and leisure circuits.
The brand will target younger travelers. Each Chapter will include the Cassette Kitchen & Bar.
Tibrewalla said upscale is not expensive wallpaper.
“It is good decisions. Put the pool where the view is. Cook food from the region. Build a bar with a point of view. Keep it sharp, warm and local,” he said.
The brand will support local economic development, employment and hospitality talent development as tourism in Northeast India grows, the statement said. The launch builds on the group’s more than three decades of hospitality experience in the region.
Separately, Elan Group will develop JW Marriott Hotel Gurugram and JW Marriott Residences Gurugram. The projects will be part of Elan’s 50-acre integrated township in Haryana.
