- Polo Hotels signs its first property in Mizoram.
- Hotel planned as Mizoram’s 4-star or higher property.
- Concession agreement covers the initial 30-year period.
The project was initiated by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region in collaboration with the state’s Planning and Programme Implementation Department, according to PTI. The concession period is set at 30 years, with two possible 10-year extensions. The hotel will have 60 rooms, with scope to add 40 more. It will include dining outlets, a lounge, pool, banquet halls, meeting rooms and a fitness center.
Polo Hotels will develop and operate the property, while the land ownership will remain with the state government. The government will hand over the project site to the company within 45 days of signing.
"The signing of Polo Hotel Aizawl marks another important milestone in our journey of building world-class hospitality experiences across Northeast India,” Deval Tibrewalla, Polo Hotels’ founder and CEO, told PTI. “Aizawl is a destination with immense potential, and we look forward to creating a hotel that contributes meaningfully to tourism, employment generation and the state's economic growth.”
The agreement was signed at the Chief Minister's Office by tourism secretary Vanlaldina Fanai and Prashant Gupta, CFO and whole-time director of Hotel Polo Towers.
Polo Hotels is a Shillong-based hospitality group led by Tibrewalla, with a focus on hotels and resorts across Northeast India and other markets.
Separately, Summit Hotels & Resorts plans to expand in Northeast India and beyond, targeting 50 hotels by 2030.
