SUMMIT HOTELS & RESORTS is expanding its portfolio with two new brands and a soft franchise model. The company aims to double its portfolio to 50 hotels by 2030 from its current base of around 25 hotels, mainly in Northeast India.

The expansion is part of Summit’s plan to move beyond its mid-market segment with Signature Collection for the upscale market and Mandir Collection for pilgrimage hospitality, The Economic Times reported. The company is also testing the “By Summit” soft franchise model as another way to grow its portfolio.

The company launched its first Signature hotel in Gangtok earlier this year and plans to open a second property in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh, in mid-August. It is also considering moving some existing Summit hotels to the brand and reviewing projects in Meghalaya, Siliguri and Darjeeling.

"Signature Collection commands ADRs nearly 40 percent higher than our regular Summit hotels," Sumit Mitruka, Summit’s CEO told ET. "Guests today are willing to spend more for experiential leisure products."

Summit entered the pilgrimage hospitality segment with Mandir Collection, with its first property, an 80-key hotel in Salasar, Rajasthan, scheduled to open in September.

Mitruka said pilgrimage destinations are seeing demand from devotees as well as destination weddings and family celebrations.

Alongside the two new brands, the soft franchise model, provides owners with sales, marketing, and distribution support while they manage operations. The pilot currently covers two hotels, with the company saying one nearly doubled its revenue after joining the platform. The franchise model is separate from the 50-hotel target for 2030.

Mitruka noted that the model could add another 50 hotels if the company maintains consistent quality.

Beyond its brand expansion plans, Summit is also continuing to develop its owned assets. The company’s 100-key flagship hotel in Siliguri is expected to open next year.

Mitruka said North Bengal is an extension of the Northeast tourism market and urged policymakers to extend investment incentives to districts including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Dooars and Cooch Behar.

Summit recently reported nearly 40 percent business growth in April and May of fiscal year 2026-27, driven by demand in Sikkim and the Darjeeling Hills.
