IHG HOTELS & RESORTS is expanding its use of AI with a new ChatGPT app, letting travelers search, compare and explore its portfolio. The company also plans to add conversational search to its website and mobile app.

The integration complements existing digital platforms and provides travelers another way to discover hotels and plan trips, IHG said in a statement. The tool offers hotel recommendations based on traveler preferences, with real-time availability, pricing, maps and amenities. The search feature lets guests search for accommodations using natural language instead of search fields or keywords.

“Guest expectations are evolving quickly and we’re evolving with them,” said Jolie Fleming, IHG’s chief product and technology officer. “With more than one million guests staying with us every night around the world, we’re using AI to make the travel experience more seamless from planning and booking through to their stay.”

The technology is designed to understand traveler intent and context, helping users move from trip planning to booking more efficiently, IHG said. These capabilities are part of a broader AI and technology strategy focused on improving the guest experience, supporting hotel performance and advancing innovation across the company.

In May, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts launched a native ChatGPT app for hotel discovery and booking, the first native hotel app from a major U.S. economy and midscale franchisor in OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
