THE WORLD SUSTAINABLE Hospitality Alliance will host a summit in Paris on Dec. 8 to 9 to address sustainability challenges. The Global Summit will bring more than 250 hospitality leaders to discuss climate risks, labor shortages, regulation and net-positive hospitality.
The summit, hosted by Accor, will bring together CEOs, experts, owners and investors, WSHA said in a statement. The alliance represents more than 66,000 hotels, eight million rooms and over 300 brands.
The Alliance said the summit will support action and build resilience.
“As we accelerate our drive toward net-positive hospitality, this year’s Global Summit in Paris represents a critical tipping point for our industry,” said Glenn Mandziuk, WSHA CEO. “Bringing together 250 of the world’s most influential leaders, members, and investors allows us to move past conversation and into collective action.”
The summit will focus on putting sustainability commitments into practice, the statement said. Sessions will cover net-positive hospitality and sustainable procurement. The agenda includes workshops, seminars and strategy sessions. Participants will address climate risks, workforce pressures and regulatory changes.
It will bring together industry stakeholders to develop shared responses to challenges.
The summit aims to set a roadmap for net-positive hospitality through industry cooperation, WSHA said. Discussions will focus on actions across operations and supply chains.
The summit will also host the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards Gala on Dec. 9. The gala will recognize leaders and initiatives advancing change in travel and hospitality.
Registration is open, with discounted hotel rates available to delegates, the statement said. Places are limited to support discussion and collaboration. The Paris meeting comes as hospitality companies face climate risks and new sustainability rules.
In July, Hilton Worldwide Holdings reported progress toward its 2030 environmental and social goals, reducing carbon emissions, water use and waste across its hotels. The company is also expanding its community impact through team member initiatives.
