G6 HOSPITALITY RENEWED its corporate membership with the American Hotel & Lodging Association after leaving AAHOA in February. It will partner with AHLA on advocacy issues, including protecting the franchise model, advancing tax policies and addressing workforce and labor issues affecting the economy segment.

G6, which operates more than 1,500 properties in the U.S. and Canada, is strengthening the economy segment’s voice in legislative and regulatory matters, G6 said in a statement. The company will also continue its partnership with the AHLA Foundation on anti-human trafficking initiatives, including the No Room for Trafficking campaign.

“Rejoining AHLA is an important step for G6 Hospitality and our franchisees,” said G6 CEO Sonal Sinha. “The association’s advocacy on workforce development, regulatory issues and industry initiatives impacts our ability to serve guests and support franchise partners. We look forward to working with AHLA to advance the priorities of the economy segment and strengthen the voice of independent hoteliers.”

G6, parent of Motel 6 and Studio 6, is led by Chairman Ritesh Agarwal, also group CEO of PRISM, and Sinha. The company opened more than 35 Studio 6 locations in the first quarter of 2026.

Rosanna Maietta, AHLA president and CEO, said AHLA welcomes G6 back.

“As one of the most recognized brands in the economy segment, G6 brings an important perspective to our advocacy efforts,” she said. “With G6 at the table, we are better positioned to champion the needs of economy hoteliers nationwide.”

In February, G6 announced its disengagement from AAHOA while expanding ties with AHLA and regional associations focused on owner issues such as insurance costs, local regulation, labor availability and safety initiatives. In a letter to franchisees, Sinha said the company “maintained a constructive relationship” with AAHOA, but a review found their interests no longer aligned.

AAHOA has not commented on the split.
