The redevelopment includes 223 renovated guestrooms and more than 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. Plans also call for a nine-hole executive golf course, a redesigned pool, a restaurant and a bar.
ALPS is a California-based hospitality company founded in 2000 and owned by Saahil Khandwala, focusing on hotel investment, development and management.
"When we looked at this property, we didn't just see an opportunity to renovate a hotel. We saw an opportunity to tell the story of this neighborhood in a new way," said Khandwala. "By drawing inspiration from Kearny Mesa's history and heritage, we're creating a place that feels rooted here and gives both neighbors and travelers a reason to return."
The project team includes Starck Architecture + Planning, Atwater Studio, McCullough Landscape Architecture, Grizzly and Level 3 Construction.
Earlier this year, Signature Inn Merced/Yosemite Parkway opened in Merced, California, expanding Sonesta’s presence in Northern California.
