Gary Mills is now senior vice president of acquisitions at NewcrestImage. He will lead the firm’s acquisition efforts across its real estate portfolio.
He has hotel real estate experience, including serving as NewcrestImage’s vice president of real estate from 2015 to 2020, when he helped double the company’s portfolio, the company said in a statement.
“Acquisitions have historically been a core strategy for our firm,” said Mehul Patel, NewcrestImage’s managing partner. “Gary is especially good at putting together complex transactions that work for all parties involved. His return will enable us to build value and accelerate the growth of our assets.”
Mills also held executive roles, including regional vice president of franchise sales development for Choice Hotels’ Cambria Hotels brand, the statement said. He helped launch the Hilton Garden Inn concept in 1996. He also served as a vice president at Hunter Advisors and founded Gary C. Mills Hotels LLC, where he provided consulting services to hotel owners and developers.
Mills said the company is ready to work with owners and the brokerage community.
“At NewcrestImage, my mission will be to leverage the company’s unmatched experience, strong balance sheet, and rich inventory of financing options to identify distinctive properties that offer attractive upside profit potential,” he said.
In June, NewcrestImage acquired the Graduate by Hilton in Tempe, Arizona.
Since its founding in 2013, NewcrestImage completed more than $3 billion in transactions involving nearly 300 hotels and 32,000 rooms across 130 communities. The company currently owns more than 45 hotels.
