BWH HOTELS IS bringing its more than 4,000 hotels and 18 brands across 100 countries under the WorldHotels masterbrand. The company is also combining its loyalty programs under WorldHotels Rewards, which launches Jan. 5.

The Phoenix-based company announced the transformation Oct. 27. Individual hotel identities, signage and flags will remain unchanged.

“We have a hotel for virtually every travel occasion, but many travelers only know a portion of our portfolio,” said Larry Cuculic, WorldHotels president and CEO. “WorldHotels gives us a clearer way to tell our story. By connecting our brands, loyalty program and digital capabilities under one masterbrand, we’re making it easier for travelers to understand who we are today, while enabling our hoteliers to better compete on a global scale and preserving the independence and individuality of our 4,000 hotels.”

The company said consumer research and guest feedback showed that many travelers knew only part of its portfolio. Its offerings span luxury, boutique, upscale, extended-stay and economy hotels. The transformation aims to raise awareness of the portfolio, clarify its range of options and support growth.

WorldHotels is building its platform around local expertise rather than standardized guest experiences. Insights from hotel teams will help travelers discover neighborhood recommendations and local experiences across the portfolio.

The platform is designed to expand discovery across brands and strengthen direct relationships with guests. It will also increase visibility for hotel owners worldwide.

Loyalty program revamped

WorldHotels Rewards combines Best Western Rewards and the existing WorldHotels Rewards program, bringing together about 70 million members. The new program will have three membership tiers.

The company said members will retain their existing points value and benefits, including status matching, member rates and points that never expire. The program will also provide additional opportunities to earn points.

The company will announce further details about the program Nov. 16.

Joelle Park, WorldHotels’ chief marketing officer, said consumer research and member feedback showed travelers want a loyalty program that is intuitive, transparent and recognizes them wherever they travel.

“By bringing our loyalty program together under WorldHotels Rewards, we’re making it easier for guests to discover the full breadth of our portfolio, find the right hotel for every journey and feel welcomed wherever they stay,” he said.

The company is launching a new website and redesigned mobile app. Both support a proprietary discovery platform developed using more than 10,000 hours of insights gathered from hotel teams worldwide.

The platform helps travelers discover hotels, neighborhoods and experiences and manage bookings and loyalty activity. It is also designed to increase direct-booking opportunities for hotel owners.

BWH Hotels is bringing its upscale and luxury properties together under WorldHotels Collection, a platform for independent hotels. It includes six categories: WorldHotels Luxury, WorldHotels Elite, WorldHotels Distinctive, WorldHotels Crafted, WorldHotels Backdrop and WorldHotels Residences.

“The future of luxury hospitality isn’t about standardization. It’s about helping exceptional independent properties compete and grow on a global stage, while remaining true to their identity,” said Ron Pohl, WorldHotels Collection president. “WorldHotels Collection sits at the intersection of independence and scale, giving owners access to the commercial power, technology and demand drivers of a major hospitality network while maintaining the tailored, local experiences today’s travelers are seeking.”

WorldHotels Residences combines private homeownership with hotel services and brand affiliation. WorldHotels Backdrop connects travelers with destinations that pair natural settings with upscale accommodations.

The company said both platforms are expanding in some of the hospitality industry’s fastest-growing categories. They are intended to create opportunities for developers, owners and independent operators seeking global distribution and brand recognition.

Separately, BWH recently launched a worldwide sales division to drive corporate business across its upscale and luxury hotels. The division went live June 1 after an internal rollout in May.
