- Summit Hotels reports 40 percent growth in April and May.
- Portfolio occupancy reaches 78.9 percent .
- Average room rates cross $698 million across key destinations.
Summit Hotels is a Himalayan hospitality brand led by chief executive officer Sumit Mitruka, with more than 28 properties across Darjeeling, Sikkim, Assam and Goa.
The numbers held up despite a temporary slowdown during the West Bengal Assembly election period, Summit Hotels said in a statement. During the period, average room rates crossed $698 million. The company sold more than 37,000 room nights over the two months. Occupancy across the portfolio stood at 78.9 percent during the same period.
"We entered the year expecting healthy demand, but the pace of bookings has been stronger than anticipated,” said Mitruka. “The demand for experiential leisure travel remains strong and is translating into both room revenue and increased guest spending.”
The company also reported growth in food and beverage revenues and guest satisfaction scores. It is expanding beyond its owned and managed portfolio in the Eastern Himalayas and pursuing partnerships with independent hotels, boutique resorts, heritage properties, wildlife lodges and spiritual retreats across India.
The partnership model is intended to give independent hotel owners access to distribution, revenue management, digital marketing and technology support, while allowing them to retain ownership and day-to-day control of their properties.
Separately, ITC Hotels signed Storii by ITC Hotels Guwahati, a 43-key property in Assam, developed in partnership with Bhauram Jodhraj.
