ITC HOTELS Ltd. announced the signing of a 90-key Fortune Select in Guwahati, Assam, marking its entry into one of Northeast India's most active hospitality markets. The property is scheduled to open in April 2028.

Guwahati serves as the primary gateway to Northeast India, with the state capital Dispur located within the city. The region draws visitors headed to the Kamakhya Temple, Kaziranga National Park, and heritage sites including Hajo and Madan Kamdev.

Better air, rail and road links have kept travel demand in Guwahati growing steadily in recent years. The new Fortune Select is expected to offer well-appointed rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, banquet halls and conferencing facilities.

"Guwahati is an exceptionally attractive market. It has an evolving business environment with equally interesting leisure spaces,” said Anil Chadha, ITC’s managing director. "We look forward to meeting the region's growing appetite for quality branded stays and delighting the city with our signature hospitality”.

The signing reflects the company's broader expansion push. ITC recorded its highest-ever signings in the financial year 2025-26, adding 33 hotels with more than 3,300 keys. The managed hotels pipeline now stands at 67 hotels with nearly 6,700 keys. The company targets a portfolio of 250 operational hotels with more than 22,000 keys by 2031.

The timing also aligns with rising traveler interest in the region. Agoda's 2025 New Horizons report ranked Guwahati as the fastest-growing destination for international travelers visiting India, pointing to its wildlife access, river experiences and growing profile as a meetings and events hub.

In November 2025, ITC opened Storii Akanni Naina Tikkar, a 42-room mountain retreat in Himachal Pradesh owned by Alisha Gupta.
