KSHEMA GROUP WILL develop the 100-key IHCL SeleQtions Athirapilly in Kerala, India. It involves the conversion and expansion of an existing property.

The project will be developed in two phases, with the existing 37 keys forming the first phase and the remaining keys added during the expansion, Indian Hotels Co. Ltd. said in a statement.

The hotel is in Thrissur district, on the banks of the Chalakudy River near Athirapilly Falls. It is also near Cochin International Airport and connects with leisure routes between Kochi and Munnar. It will include an all-day dining restaurant, wine and beer lounge, rooftop dining area, banquet and meeting spaces, swimming pool, fitness center and spa.

“Kerala continues to be a key leisure market with its diverse tourism offerings and strong connectivity,” said Suma Venkatesh, IHCL executive vice president for real estate and development. “Athirapilly, with its proximity to Athirapilly Falls and easy access from Kochi, supports our focus on expanding our portfolio in leisure destinations.”

Kshema Group, founded and chaired by S Basant, operates in renewable energy, infrastructure, hospitality and other sectors.

Abhinand Basant, Kshema Group director, said the project is an important milestone for the company and reflects its focus on developing hotels connected to their location and surroundings.

The signing will take IHCL’s Kerala portfolio to 25 hotels, including seven under development, the statement said.

Separately, the 50-key The Fern Residency Thekkady, Series by Marriott, opened in Thekkady, Kerala.
