Peachtree Rocks SXSW 2025 with Star-Driven Hits

PEACHTREE GROUP-LED Peachtree Media Partners showcased its financed films “We Bury the Dead” and “The Surfer” at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas. Peachtree's SXSW selection highlights its growing role in senior-secured storytelling financing, targeting $5 million to $50 million productions with rising demand for flexible capital.

The firm’s SXSW participation follows the May premiere of “The Surfer” at Cannes, where it received a six-minute standing ovation, reinforcing the firm's role as a TV and film lender. SXSW brings together filmmakers, industry leaders, and media professionals, Peachtree said in a statement.

"Our increasing activity in film and television financing is a natural extension of our lending capabilities," said Greg Friedman, Peachtree’s managing principal and CEO. "The entertainment industry presents unique investment opportunities, and our goal is to provide financing solutions that align with the creative vision of filmmakers while delivering strong returns for our stakeholders."

Atlanta-based Peachtree is led by Friedman, Managing Principal and CFO Jatin Desai, and Principal Mitul Patel.

“We Bury the Dead” premiered in the Narrative Spotlight section, following a woman searching for her missing husband after a failed military experiment, leading to an unsettling discovery as the dead show signs of life, Peachtree said. Starring Daisy Ridley, the film has received praise for its visuals and portrayal of grief.

“The Surfer” starring Nicolas Cage premiered in the Festival Favorite category. It follows a man who returns to his childhood beach with his son and clashes with a dominant local group, leading to intense conflict.

Peachtree Media Partners is led by Managing Partner Joshua Harris.

"By combining capital investment with industry expertise, we deliver tailored financial solutions that align with the evolving demands of today's entertainment market," Harris said.

Peachtree is expanding its film and TV portfolio with about 15 projects in development. Alongside The Surfer and We Bury the Dead, it has financed several notable films, including “Mary” with Anthony Hopkins, “The Fabulous Four” with Susan Sarandon and Bette Midler, “Muzzle” with Aaron Eckhart and “Sleeping Dogs” with Russell Crowe.

In May, Peachtree Media Partners premiered “The Surfer” at Cannes and noted its $10 billion investment track record, focusing on mispriced risk in TV and film financing.
