MAYA HOTELS COMPLETED renovations at three hotels in the Carolinas over the past year, updating about 34 percent of its guest rooms. The company upgraded guestrooms, public spaces, technology and layouts in line with its capital deployment strategy.
The properties include the 90-room Candlewood Suites Mooresville Lake Norman and the 105-room Hampton Inn & Suites Charlotte Arrowood Road in North Carolina and the 109-room Hampton Inn Columbia Northeast Fort Jackson Area in South Carolina, Maya said in a statement. Upgrades include fitness centers, public and communal spaces, work areas and food and beverage areas tailored to each market and guest base.
“These renovations are designed to create spaces where guests immediately feel welcomed, comfortable and confident in choosing our hotels as their place to stay,” said Parimal Thakor, Maya’s co-CEO. “At the same time, they give our teams a product they are proud to work in and empower them to deliver exceptional and thoughtful guest experiences.”
The projects involved coordination across design, construction and hotel operations teams, producing assets that balance design and operational durability for short- and long-term demand across traveler segments, the statement said. The company will continue investing in its portfolio, with a full renovation of Courtyard Charlotte Gastonia in North Carolina scheduled later this year.
Krishna Deva, Maya’s co-CEO, said the Carolinas are home and the company takes a long-term view when investing there.
“Our investors place significant trust in us and we approach that responsibility by reinvesting with intention, strengthening our assets and positioning our hotels for sustainable performance,” she said.
In 2024, Maya completed a second-generation leadership transition, with Thakor and Deva assuming new roles.
Maya’s portfolio includes 11 properties with over 1,200 guest rooms across North and South Carolina. Partnering with Marriott International, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and IHG Hotels & Resorts, the company focuses on growth, reinvestment and operations. Maya marked 30 years in hospitality in 2025, growing from a single motel in 1995 to a portfolio of branded properties in the Carolinas.
