- IHCL, AAHL plan eight hotels in India.
- Portfolio includes Taj, Vivanta, Gateway and Ginger brands.
- IHCL’s airport hotel portfolio will reach 25.
The portfolio will cover aviation gateways in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Guwahati. It includes three Taj hotels, two Vivanta hotels, one Gateway hotel and two Ginger hotels. The hotels will offer dining, meeting and event facilities, wellness services and recreational amenities for business, leisure and transit travelers, IHCL said in a statement.
“As India strengthens its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets, airport-centric developments are emerging as important commercial and hospitality hubs,” said Puneet Chhatwal, IHCL’s managing director and CEO. “With these additions, IHCL will have 25 hotels across its brandscape at key airports in India.”
Jeet Adani, AAHL director, said airports are becoming integrated destinations for commerce, tourism and urban growth.
“Our partnership with IHCL will bring together our hospitality-led mixed-use destinations and India’s leading hospitality company to develop hotels in key airport cities,” Adani said.
In Mumbai, a Taj hotel is under construction at Terminal 2. Ahmedabad will have a Taj and a Vivanta, both in advanced stages of construction. Lucknow will have a Vivanta and a Ginger, while Guwahati will have a Taj, a Gateway and a Ginger.
AAHL has established Adani Airport City Ltd. to develop a land bank of more than 655 acres across six airports in five states. This includes nearly 440 acres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. In the first phase, AACL plans to invest more than $2.1 billion to develop about 22 million square feet across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati.
In June, IHG Hotels & Resorts said it was in talks with AAHL to expand their partnership beyond the existing five-hotel deal in India.
