U.S. HOTEL PERFORMANCE was mixed for the week ended July 25, according to CoStar. Occupancy increased slightly, while RevPAR and ADR declined, though all three metrics rose year over year.
Occupancy rose to 72.5 percent for the week ended July 25 from 72.4 percent the previous week and increased 1.3 percentage points year over year. ADR fell to $173.47 from $174.49 but rose 4.9 percent year over year. RevPAR declined to $125.72 from $126.33 and increased 6.3 percent year over year.
Among the top 25 markets, New York City posted the largest gains in ADR, rising 28.1 percent to $375.12, and RevPAR, increasing 35 percent to $348.62. On Sunday, 19 July, the night of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, ADR climbed 142.2 percent and RevPAR gained 179.6 percent.
Philadelphia posted the largest occupancy gain, rising 9 percent to 77.1 percent.
Las Vegas posted the steepest declines across the three key performance metrics: occupancy fell 15.9 percent to 65.7 percent, ADR declined 5.4 percent to $176.38 and RevPAR dropped 20.4 percent to $115.88. The declines reflected comparisons with Beyoncé and Backstreet Boys concerts held during the same period last year.
