WYNDHAM HOTELS & RESORTS is giving away a $20,000 travel stipend for a Route 66 road trip to mark the highway’s 100th anniversary. Wyndham Rewards invites a pair to join the Grand Mother Road Trip, traveling the route and staying at Wyndham hotels while visiting motels, pit stops and landmarks.

Route 66, “The Mother Road,” runs from Chicago to Santa Monica, California, linking towns, attractions and roadside stops for a century, Wyndham said in a statement. Participants will travel with a grandparent, staying at Wyndham brands—Days Inn, Super 8, La Quinta, Ramada, and Howard Johnson—while the prize covers travel, accommodations and activities along the route.

The contest focuses on family bonding, while the highway offers attractions.

"Route 66 is one of the most enduring symbols of American travel and for decades, Wyndham's roadside brands have been part of that journey,” said Michael Shiwdin, Wyndham’s group vice president, integrated marketing, loyalty and digital. “As we celebrate its centennial, this road trip brings that legacy to life, handing the keys to our open-road ambassadors for an adventure that inspires travelers to hit the road, explore new destinations, and create lasting memories."

Travelers can enter Wyndham’s contest by submitting a story or vision for a Route 66 trip with a grandparent, the statement said. Entries should focus on making memories, reconnecting with family and traveling America’s highways. The winning duo will document their journey on social media, sharing roadside attractions and views along Route 66 via Instagram, Facebook or TikTok.

Wyndham's Trademark Collection brand has surpassed 100 U.S. hotels, doubling its portfolio in five years.
