What is the ESG tracker launched by WTTC and Greenview for U.S. hotels?
THE WORLD TRAVEL & Tourism Council and Greenview recently launched a global environmental, social and governance policy tracker to help travel and tourism businesses monitor evolving ESG-related regulations and policies worldwide. The tracker includes an online interactive dashboard and coverage of regional, national and state-level ESG policies.
The tracker helps travel and tourism businesses navigate regulatory landscapes and incorporate sustainability into business decisions, WTTC and Greenview said in a statement.
“ESG requirements are becoming more complex and urgent by the day, and this partnership provides a tool to help companies not only comply with policy, but also lead in responsible, future-focused travel and tourism,” said Julia Simpson, WTTC president and CEO. “The ESG Tracker offers timely, clear, and actionable insights—helping them benchmark progress, anticipate change and deliver on their commitments.”
Users also receive regional and thematic policy summaries, quarterly updates with the latest information, and access to an advisory group to guide future development of the policy tracker, the statement said.
Eric Ricaurte, founder and CEO of Greenview, said many in the hospitality industry will benefit from the tracker.
“Our expertise in ESG policy research and content management allows us to bring practical intelligence to hospitality leaders worldwide,” Ricaurte said. “Together, we’re building a resource that will drive change and support long-term resilience across the sector.”
Singapore-based Greenview provides sustainability and ESG data solutions for the hospitality and travel and tourism industries.
The tracker marks the sector’s shift toward sustainable and transparent operations and supports WTTC’s commitment to its members and the travel and tourism sector, the statement said. It aligns with WTTC’s agenda to advance sustainability, inclusion and resilience in the industry.
WTTC recently projected the U.S. will lose $12.5 billion in international travel spending this year, dropping to under $169 billion from $181 billion in 2024—a 22.5 percent decline from the 2019 peak of $217.4 billion.
