PRISM LAUNCHED BELVILLA, a European short-term rental and apart-hotel brand, in the U.S. after acquiring 10 properties through the Sonder bankruptcy process. The launch marks Belvilla’s first operations outside Europe.
Belvilla operates more than 60,000 holiday homes across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Spain and other countries, PRISM said in a statement. The Zurich-based brand was acquired by Ritesh Agarwal’s company in 2019.
“The U.S. represents an important opportunity for us, and our approach has been deliberate and selective,” said Ankit Tandon, PRISM’s global COO and CEO Europe. “We chose properties where the fundamentals work from day one, ensuring a balanced and sustainable model for guests and property owners. We are already in touch with additional owners who are keen to sign up with Belvilla as we expand our presence in the market.”
The secured properties are Court Square and The Dutch in Long Island City, New York; The Industrialist in Brooklyn, New York; RailSpur in Seattle; The Schaeffer and The Louie in New Orleans; Skyline in Denver; The Queen in Philadelphia; East 5th in Austin, Texas; and Ida in Phoenix, the statement said. Sonder filed for Chapter 7 liquidation in Delaware on Nov. 14 after its Marriott International partnership collapsed on Nov. 9.
As part of its initial U.S. rollout, Belvilla began operations at The Dutch, Court Square, and The Louie Hotel under its Belvilla District 6 brand. The court-led process provided access to assets that met Belvilla’s criteria on unit economics and operational feasibility, focusing on properties where it can deliver a consistent guest experience while maintaining cost discipline.
Peter Papamichael, owner of Court Square, said Belvilla’s focus on operations and long-term economics gives owners confidence.
“The model creates a win-win partnership built on sustainability rather than short-term expansion,” he said.
Zach Kupperman, owner of The Louie, said Belvilla’s approach balances economics with guest focus.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the hotel evolve under their stewardship and tap into new demand,” he said.
Separately, G6 Hospitality contracted with Protect24.ai to enhance guest safety at over 1,500 Motel 6 and Studio 6 locations in the U.S. and Canada. The platform gives franchisees early visibility into suspicious activity, reputational risks, and potential criminal exposure, supporting timely decisions.
