HOTEL METRICS IMPROVED in the week ended Sept. 19 from the previous week and a year earlier, according to CoStar. RevPAR increased in 21 of the top 25 markets, while U.S. ADR reached a record weekly level.
Occupancy increased to 71.1 percent for the week ended Sept. 19 from 62.3 percent the previous week, a 4.4 percent gain from a year earlier. ADR rose to $179.30 from $160.57, a 5.7 percent increase. RevPAR increased to $127.43 from $100.08, a 10.4 percent gain.
Among the top 25 markets, Chicago posted the largest gains in ADR and RevPAR, with ADR rising 28.2 percent to $257.66 and RevPAR increasing 41.8 percent to $226.18. The gains were driven by the International Manufacturing Technology Show.
Washington, D.C., posted the largest increase in occupancy, rising 10.7 percent to 82.3 percent, and the second-largest RevPAR gain, up 23.9 percent to $194.23.
