CHOICE HOTELS INTERNATIONAL debuted a redesigned prototype for its midscale extended-stay Everhome Suites brand. The new prototype increases capacity to about 120 suites to improve owner returns while preserving operational simplicity.

The prototype reflects a development process involving developers, operators, architects, contractors and suppliers, Choice said in a statement. It was developed with BRR Architecture, architect of record for the company’s extended-stay brands.

“Extended stay continues to be one of the most compelling segments in lodging and Everhome Suites is a key part of our growth strategy,” said Matt McElhare, Choice’s vice president and extended-stay segment lead. “This redesigned prototype shows how we’re applying real-world insight and disciplined innovation to help owners lower development costs and deliver the experience today’s extended-stay guests expect.”

Everhome Suites is one of four brands in the company’s extended-stay portfolio, with 27 hotels open and about 40 in the pipeline, the statement said. The brand emphasizes apartment-style accommodations for longer stays, with suites that include full kitchens and workspaces.

Groundbreakings for the new prototype are expected in the coming months.

The updated prototype focuses on three priorities: reducing development costs, improving operational efficiency and improving the guest experience, Choice said. Refined layouts and material selections are expected to lower average construction costs per room by about 13 percent compared to the prior prototype, while supporting lean staffing and streamlined operations.

Choice reported U.S. growth in 2025, driven by extended-stay openings and expansion of its core and upscale brands. The company opened 66 U.S. extended-stay properties, surpassing 2024’s total and launched its first extended-stay marketing campaign, “Stay in Your Rhythm.”
