Best Western Plus opens in Louisiana

The hotel, owned by Andy Patel, is near historic district

Best Western Plus Vermilion River Inn & Suites is now open in Lafayette, Louisiana. It is owned by Andy Patel.

The 97-room hotel is near the Heymann Performing Arts Center, River Ranch, Cajun Dome, Vermilionville Historic and Acadian Village, and shopping and restaurant areas. Hotel amenities include a fitness center, an indoor pool and a 1,200 square foot meeting room.


“We are thrilled to be a part of the Best Western Plus brand, as it is well known and respected for its high standards and commitment to quality customer service,” Patel said. “Our new hotel will meet all the needs of business and leisure travelers looking for modern style, unmatched value and the highest degree of hospitality.”

On Sept. 9, the SureStay Hotel by Best Western Fort Pierce is open in Fort Pierce, Florida, after a renovation. It is owned by the Satya Group led by Sachit Patel as president.

THE INDIAN AMERICAN Advocacy Council urged the Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate a rise in hate speech and violent rhetoric targeting Indians. Indian Americans fear rising online threats that advocacy leaders say could endanger lives.

With Indians holding more than 70 percent of work visas, social media has seen a rise in racist posts, with users telling Indians to “return home” and blaming them for “taking” American jobs, according to Hindustan Times.
