Wyndham's 'Registry Collection' debuts in U.S.

WYNDHAM HOTELS & RESORTS’ “Registry Collection” debuted in the U.S. with the renovated Mining Exchange hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The 128-room property will be managed by Practice Hospitality, led by CEO Bashar Wali.

The Mining Exchange includes 15,000 square feet of conference and event space, featuring a ballroom, two meeting rooms, an outdoor terrace and a boardroom, Wyndham said in a statement. The hotel also has multiple dining options, a full-service spa and The Vault art gallery, and is located near the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum.

“The Mining Exchange has been a Colorado icon since 1902,” said Wali. “Now, some 120 years on, we are honoring that heritage by creating a hotel imbued with local touches and human connection that has earned the distinction of being the first Registry Collection hotel in the U.S. We’re proud to be joining a world-class portfolio of international hotels and adding Colorado Springs to the global roster of Registry Collection destinations.”

Launched in 2021, the “Registry Collection” includes more than 20 hotels worldwide, from Chalikidi, Greece, to Panama City, with nearly 10 more planned, the statement said.

“Registry Collection Hotels provide guests with an oasis from daily life while exploring some of the most stunning destinations in the world,” said Leonardo Danese, Registry Collection Hotels’ brand leader. “In the case of The Mining Exchange, the hotel seamlessly blends the rich history of its surroundings with unmatched service and elevated décor. It’s an ideal example of the rich, rewarding and memorable visits for which the brand stands for.”

Travelers today are looking for “bespoke and immersive experiences that boutique, independently minded operators can offer,” said Geoff Ballotti, Wyndham’s president and CEO.

Through Registry Collection Hotels, we’re committed to curating these one-of-a-kind experiences for guests,” Ballotti said.

In July, Wyndham launched 'Wyndham Connect,' a guest engagement platform by Canary Technologies, in North America. The platform is free for owners and used by nearly 2,000 hotels. In January, Wyndham and sbe launched 'Project HQ Hotels & Residences' at the American Lodging Investment Summit in Los Angeles, targeting younger travelers seeking unique experiences.

Trump policies took center stage in 2025

Summary:

  • Policy shifts and trade tensions shaped the U.S. hospitality industry.
  • A congressional deadlock triggered a federal shutdown from Oct. 1 to Nov. 12.
  • Visa limitations and the immigration crackdown dampened international travel.

THE U.S. HOSPITALITY industry navigated a year of policy shifts, leadership changes, trade tensions and reflection. From Washington’s decisions affecting travel and tourism to industry gatherings and the loss of influential figures, these stories dominated conversation and shaped the sector.

Policy uncertainty took center stage as Washington ground to a halt. A congressional deadlock over healthcare subsidies and spending priorities triggered a federal government shutdown that began on Oct. 1 and lasted until Nov. 12. The U.S. Travel Association warned the shutdown could cost the travel economy up to $1 billion per week, citing disruptions at federal agencies and the Transportation Security Administration. Industry leaders said prolonged gridlock would further strain hotels already facing rising costs and workforce challenges.
