Jay Sarkar is now chief financial officer at Trailborn Hotels & Resorts. He will oversee finance and work with the executive team on financial performance and strategy.
Sarkar previously served as CFO at Meyer Jabara Hotels and Stepstone Hospitality, Trailborn said in a statement.
“Jay has a deep understanding of the financial side of the hospitality business and what it takes to build a strong foundation for a growing hotel portfolio,” Trailborn co-founders and co-CEOs Mike Weiss and Ben Weinberg said in a statement. “His perspective and extensive industry experience will bring valuable insight to our team and help guide strategic decision-making as Trailborn continues to grow.”
Before that, he was regional controller at Pyramid Hotel Group, where he oversaw finances for a portfolio of full-service hotels and supported the evaluation and transition of acquisitions. He began his hospitality career at Tollman-Hundley Hotels before joining Starwood Hotels in New York, where he worked with the W and Sheraton brands.
His appointment follows the addition of Trailborn Jackson Hole in Wyoming, the brand’s first all-season ski resort with ski-in/ski-out access, and Hill House at Trailborn Mendocino in California, its first West Coast property. Trailborn plans to open The Mendocino Hotel at Trailborn Mendocino in summer 2027, completing its Mendocino destination.
Trailborn is one of two inaugural brands, with Postcard Cabins, in Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy, which Marriott International launched in September 2025. Marriott also introduced Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors, a digital platform that lets travelers plan trips by destination or activity.
