RADISSON HOTEL GROUP is aiming to expand its India portfolio to 500 hotels by 2030, more than twice its current count. It has been opening nearly two hotels a month, supported by expanding infrastructure, improved connectivity and rising travel demand.

India has become a central part of RHG’s global growth strategy, driven by rising domestic travel and increased demand for business and leisure stays, CNBC-TV18 reported.

“We are in a great space. India is moving and moving quickly,” said KB Kachru, RHG’s chairman of South Asia, according to CNBC-TV18. “We have seen huge growth post-COVID-19. We already have 212 hotels in operation and under development.”

The group’s strategy focuses on rapid expansion across major cities and emerging destinations.

“Demand is strong across business and leisure markets,” Kachru said. “Occupancy levels are hovering near 70 percent and we expect winter bookings to rise between 5 percent and 9 percent year-on-year.”

Meanwhile, a driver of this demand has been the wedding and MICE segment, where India’s hospitality industry has seen steady momentum.

“There’s strong focus on the wedding market and MICE, and with the government establishing large convention centres, that will help hotels significantly,” Kachru was quoted as saying in the report.

Radisson is following an asset-light model to sustain growth, partnering with institutional funds and high-net-worth individuals to accelerate expansion. This approach allows the company to scale while maintaining financial flexibility, the report said.

Recently, Radisson signed a 340-room Radisson Collection in Navi Mumbai. The group is also strengthening ties with Indian partners who operate multiple hotels under its brands, including a 300-room property in Karjat.

In October, RHG announced plans to open eight hotels in Uttar Pradesh, following the recent openings of two in Lucknow and Prayagraj.
