- Oberoi and Springedge plan a $43 million hotel in Amritsar, Punjab.
- This will be the first Trident hotel in Punjab; nine operate across India.
- Construction is set to begin in July 2026 and finish March 2029.
THE OBEROI GROUP and Springedge Solutions Pvt. Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a $43 million hotel in Amritsar, Punjab. The 150-room hotel will operate under the Trident Hotels brand and be built about 3 kilometers from the Golden Temple on Amritsar–Tarn Taran Road.
The government of Punjab, through Invest Punjab, facilitated the partnership after engaging with both parties for over 18 months, according to media reports. The three-acre project is expected to generate about 350 jobs.
Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026, with completion targeted for March 2029.
EIH Ltd, formerly East India Hotels, is the listed flagship company of the Oberoi Group, which operates two hotel brands: Oberoi Hotels & Resorts in the luxury segment and Trident Hotels in the premium segment. Amritsar-based Springedge Solutions is a private company with Shahbaz Singh, Avtar Singh and Amandeep Kaur as its directors.
The MoU was signed in the presence of R Shankar, president, corporate and legal affairs, Oberoi Group and the directors of Springedge Solutions. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, administrative secretary, Industries and Commerce, Punjab, also attended.
This will be the first Trident hotel in Punjab, with nine operational across India. The Amritsar project is also the brand’s first greenfield development of this scale.
The Oberoi Group operates 32 hotels in India and has 10 more in the pipeline. In Punjab, it runs The Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort.
Separately, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, on March 28, more than four years after laying its foundation in 2021.
