HILTON WORLDWIDE HOLDINGS contracted Regenta Hotels Pvt. Ltd. to franchise and open 125 Hampton by Hilton hotels in India by 2035. The hotels will be developed in western and southern India, including Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

It accelerates Hilton’s upper midscale expansion in India, where domestic travel growth and demand from the expanding middle class are driving opportunities in the mid-market segment, Hilton said in a statement. The company operates more than 3,100 Hampton properties globally.

“India’s economic growth, expanding middle class and rapid infrastructure development are reshaping the country’s travel landscape, creating significant opportunities for our brands,” said Alan Watts, Hilton’s president for Asia Pacific. “Our new strategic partnership with the Regenta Hotels Group demonstrates our commitment to working with established local operators, enabling us to scale our franchise footprint rapidly while maintaining the strength and consistency of Hilton’s brands.”

This partnership is Hilton’s third in India, building on earlier agreements that accelerate development by setting franchise terms for multiple properties at once, the statement said. In 2025, Hilton signed a strategic licensing agreement with NILE Hospitality to open 75 Hampton by Hilton hotels in India. In 2024, it also signed an agreement with Olive by Embassy to develop 150 Spark by Hilton hotels in India.

Regenta Hotels is a hospitality brand under Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd., a BSE-listed company, led by Founder and CMD Chander Baljee and President Arjun Baljee.

Chander Baljee said they are proud to partner with Hilton to expand Hampton by Hilton in India.

“Our portfolio is a mix of owned, managed and franchised properties and this partnership with Hilton will drive growth in India’s mid-market hospitality segment,” he said. “As domestic travel grows and new economic centers emerge, we see significant opportunity to expand the Hampton by Hilton brand across Indian cities.”

Western and southern India account for a large share of the country’s GDP and major travel corridors, the statement said. With improved connectivity and rising domestic travel, demand for branded accommodation is expanding beyond major metros, creating opportunities for midscale and upper midscale hotels in emerging cities and commercial hubs.

A recent report by London-based housing provider SilverDoor found that corporate travel is rising in tertiary Indian cities as businesses expand beyond major hubs. The Union Budget 2026–27 infrastructure investment and a U.S.–India trade agreement reducing reciprocal tariffs to 18% will support growth.

“As we continue to strengthen our network around the world, India remains a strategic long-term growth market for Hilton,” said Christian Charnaux, Hilton’s EVP and CDO. “For owners, Hampton by Hilton delivers returns through an efficient operating model and broad guest appeal. This agreement reinforces the strength of the Hampton brand and our confidence in India’s midmarket hospitality sector.”

Arjun Baljee said partnering with Hilton to bring 125 Hampton properties is a strategic step in the company’s 50-year journey.

“It complements our focus on India’s mid-market segment with hotels that deliver value, service efficiency and design, alongside the Hampton brand experience,” he said. “Over the next 10 years, the expansion will create jobs in local communities and offer travelers a consistent stay experience.”

Hampton by Hilton is Hilton’s largest brand by number of hotels and operates in the upper midscale segment. It has been named the #1 lodging franchise by Entrepreneur for 17 consecutive years and operates in 46 countries. In India, hotels will be adapted based on consumer research while maintaining global standards.

A recent Agoda study found that India ranks third in Asia for prioritizing sustainable travel, with 88 percent of Indian travelers considering sustainability in travel choices this year. The trend is expected to continue over the next three years as travelers focus on community impact and environmental preservation.
