Yvette Estrada is senior director of state and local affairs at the American Hotel & Lodging Association, overseeing efforts in the western U.S. She previously served as district chief of staff for Rep. Linda Sanchez of California.

Estrada has also led multi-state and local advocacy for NBCUniversal, AHLA said in a statement. She will oversee AHLA’s efforts in Alaska, California, Hawai’i, Nevada and Washington. Her immediate priorities include the Hotel Worker Minimum Wage Ordinance adopted last summer by the Los Angeles City Council, which could lead to hotel closures and reduce jobs and tax revenue.

“Yvette comes on board at a pivotal time for the hotel industry. We are facing very real threats to the travel and hospitality economy, particularly in Los Angeles,” said Brett Horton, AHLA chief advocacy officer. “Yvette is no stranger to rolling up her sleeves and shaping public policy outcomes and we’re confident she will be a strong asset for our industry.”

Horton joined AHLA on Dec. 1 and oversees the association’s advocacy, political engagement and government affairs at the federal, state and local levels.

Estrada also serves on several Los Angeles boards, including the L.A. County Economic Development Corporation, the L.A. County Business Federation and FilmLA’s government affairs committee.

In January, AHLA named Liam Brown, Marriott International group president for U.S. and Canada, as chair for 2026.
