COAST EDSON HOTEL, a Coast Hotels Ltd. brand, is now open in Edson, Alberta, Canada. The 69-room hotel is owned by Kamloops-based Mundi Hotel Enterprises Inc., led by Ron Mundi.

The hotel on the Yellowhead Highway serves business travelers, outdoor visitors and pass-through guests between Edmonton and Jasper National Park, Coast Hotels said in a statement.


“We are proud to add a seventh property to the Coast Hotel brand,” said Mundi. “Coast Edson Hotel brings together the comfort, hospitality and value that travelers expect from us, while reflecting our continued commitment to growth in key communities across Alberta and beyond.”

Mundi emigrated from India to Vancouver, Canada, in 1994 and moved to Kamloops in 2002 to buy an EcoLodge. His company currently has a portfolio of more than 15 hotels across brands including Best Western, Coast Hotels, Holiday Inn, DoubleTree by Hilton, Four Points by Sheraton, Hyatt Place and Fairfield Inn & Suites.

Coast Hotels, a subsidiary of APA Hotel Canada Inc., operates properties in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Yukon, Alaska, California, Hawaii and Washington. It owns and franchises hotels under the Coast Hotels brand and manages both branded and independent properties.

Takamasa Machiura, Coast Hotels president and CEO, said expanding into Edson with Coast Edson Hotel aligns with the company’s commitment to deliver consistent quality and local hospitality across Western Canada.

“The addition of this property strengthens our presence in Alberta and provides travelers with a comfortable, well-appointed experience that reflects Coast Hotels commitment to quality and local hospitality,” he said.

Tokyo-based APA Hotels & Resorts, which has more than 930 properties and 132,000 rooms, fully owns Coast Hotels and operates seven “by APA” hotels in Vancouver, Victoria, Chilliwack, Prince George, Edmonton, Calgary and Seattle.

Minor Hotels, part of Bangkok-based Minor International PLC, will debut The Wolseley Hotels with its first property opening in New York City in early 2027.
