CHALET HOTELS LTD. is expanding its environmental, social and governance initiative, Parivartan by Chalet. Working with The Job Plus and the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council, the company aims to support 5,000 sustainable livelihoods by 2030.

The initiative focuses on training and hiring young people from underserved communities in Maharashtra and Uttarakhand. The expanded program aims to reach more young people, Chalet said in a statement.

Chalet said 60 percent of participants come from rural or semi-urban areas in eight states and more than 30 cities. Women make up 76 percent of beneficiaries and graduates report an average twofold increase in household income after placement. For many, the program is their first step into the formal workforce.

“The growth of Indian hospitality depends on expanding beyond traditional talent pools,” said Gaurav Singh, Chalet chief operating officer. “Through Parivartan, our partnership with The Job Plus and THSC connects industry demand with targeted training and aims to support 5,000 livelihoods by 2030.”

Natwar Nagar, The Job Plus founder and CEO, said the growth of the Indian hospitality sector requires a stronger supply of skilled workers.

“This initiative focuses on training young people and building a workforce that supports both industry growth and social quity,” Nagar said.

“By using National Skills Qualifications Framework standards, the program helps ensure young people entering the workforce have globally recognized skills,” said Rajan Bahadur, THSC CEO.

Over the past three years, its first phase helped 330 young people enter the formal workforce with certifications aligned with the NSQF, the statement said.

The next phase will connect hospitality industry needs with skills training and job opportunities. It will focus on women and young people from underserved communities who have fewer opportunities to enter the formal workforce.

In June, Chalet projected high single- to low double-digit core revenue growth for the April-June quarter.
