Bintan, Indonesia, welcomed thousands of Indian travelers in 2025.
• Strong ferry access via Singapore and Johor Bahru is driving demand.
• Indian visitors are choosing Bintan for quick, experience-focused resort stays.

THE INDONESIAN ISLAND of Bintan hosted more than 13,000 Indian travelers between January and November. The destination benefits from strong ferry connectivity via Singapore and expanded services from Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Short travel times and easy planning are driving interest, with Bintan positioned as a close-to-home island escape that offers integrated resorts and activity-focused itineraries, according to The Economic Times.

Indian travelers span families, leisure seekers and wellness-focused visitors. Spa and wellness offerings, golf courses, water sports and curated activities broaden Bintan’s appeal beyond a standard beach holiday. A self-contained resort environment also minimizes internal travel once on the island.

Major events including the Mandiri Bintan Marathon, BRAVE Music Festival, Bintan Triathlon, sailing regattas and wellness retreats continue to boost demand. Experience-led travel has defined 2025, and Bintan offers varied experiences within short break windows.

“India continues to be a priority market for Bintan,” said Abdul Wahab, Bintan Resorts’ CEO. “We are seeing rising interest across leisure, FIT, group travel, MICE and destination weddings. Our focus remains on access, infrastructure and diverse experiences for Indian travellers.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Bintan plans deeper engagement with the Indian market through collaborations, storytelling and extended-stay offerings. Alongside leisure, the destination is increasing focus on MICE and weddings, supported by ongoing event and resort development.

India’s Ministry of Tourism is planning convention promotion bureaus in cities nationwide starting in 2026 to strengthen its position in the global meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions sector.
