Baywood Hotels opens fourth dual-branded hotel and its first in Minnesota

The Home2/Tru combo is the company’s first in the state

BAYWOOD HOTELS HAS opened the dual-branded Home2 Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Mall of America and Tru by Hilton Minneapolis Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. The hotel marks several landmarks for the Columbia, Maryland-based company led by President Al Patel.

"This opening represents our fourth dual-branded hotel, our first development in Minnesota and expands Baywood into its 25th state,” Patel said.

The new four-story, 182-room hotel includes 72 Tru rooms and 110 Home2 suites. It is near the METRO Blue Line light rail, Mall of America, Ft. Snelling State Park and Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. Its amenities include an indoor pool and outdoor fire pit and grills.

“Blending these two category-leading brands and their signature, yet unique, identities under one roof furthers propels our commitment to providing quality lodging options to meet a wide variety of styles, travel needs and desired price points,” said Robyn Klein, the hotel’s general manager.

The dual-brand layout allows for larger common areas than a standard development, the company said. Along with the shared amenities, the extended-stay Home2 and transient Tru offer specific features for their target guests.

For example, the Home2 side offers kitchens and modular furniture that allows for flexible use.

In 2019 Baywood set a record by opening 18 new hotels during the year. Among them was the 1000th Fairfield by Marriott, and the company also broke ground on its first modular-built hotel.
