Patel named to University of Houston course's advisory board

He will shape training in customer experience for hotel professionals

Miraj Patel, president of Wayside Investment Group in Houston, has been named an advisory board member for the University of Houston Customer Experience Certificate Program. The program offers interactive training for hospitality workers to provide customer insights.

Members of the advisory board offer their professional perspective to participants in the program. Patel is also the young professional director for AAHOA’s Western Division.


Wayside Investment Group recently opened a Red Roof PLUS+ in Galveston, Texas, just before the COVID-19 pandemic was announced. In June, Patel said business at the hotel was just beginning to recover some.

A U.S. LAWMAKER plans to introduce a bill to end the H-1B visa program and its pathway to citizenship, requiring workers to leave the country when their visas expire. Meanwhile, the Trump administration reportedly directed U.S. visa officers to factor obesity and certain long-term health conditions into reviews that can lead to visa denials.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a congresswoman from Georgia, said in a video on X that the program has involved fraud and abuse and displaced American workers for decades. Her bill would end the program, with a temporary exemption of 10,000 visas for medical professionals, phased out over 10 years, according to PTI.
