NexGen opens TownPlace Suites in Chicago area

The 96-suite TownePlace Suites by Marriott Chicago Waukegan/Gurnee in Waukegan, Illinois, opened Aug. 23. It is owned by NexGen Hotels led by Chris Patel as president. It is near Six Flags Great American Amusement Park, Gurnee Mills Mall, Naval Station Great Lakes, and numerous shopping dining and entertainment options.

“We are delighted to welcome guests to the newest extended-stay hotel in the Chicago market and debut the amenities and services that we have to offer,” Patel said. “The TownePlace Suites by Marriott is an excellent addition to our growing portfolio of top-tier brands.”


With studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens, the TownePlace Suites is an extended-stay hotel. The appliances are stainless steel and the countertops are granite.

Each suite also has separate living/working and sleeping areas, as well as custom closet units from The Container Store, built-in shelves and lighting and large flat screen televisions. Other hotel amenities include a meeting room, a breakfast buffet, an indoor swimming pool and a fitness center. It also has an outdoor patio complete with Weber grills.

In June, NexGen acquired the recently renovated Four Points by Sheraton Cleveland Airport in Cleveland, Ohio. It was the 11th property in the portfolio for NexGen

MORE THAN 250 American Hotel & Lodging Association members met with lawmakers in the U.S. Senate and House to discuss legislative priorities critical to the hospitality industry. They raised concerns about tax and trade policies impacting hotel operating costs and travel demand amid ongoing budget reconciliation and tax negotiations.

Members also discussed expanding and upskilling the hospitality workforce through measures such as adjusting the H-2B visa cap and protecting the franchise model, which supports more than half of all U.S. hotels and 2.8 million jobs, the association said in a statement.

CBRE: RevPAR to grow 1.3 percent in 2025

U.S. HOTEL REVPAR is expected to grow 1.3 percent in 2025, supported by urban markets from group and business travel and increased demand for drive-to and regional leisure destinations, according to CBRE. Occupancy is forecast to rise 14 basis points and ADR 1.2 percent year-over-year.

This represents slower growth than CBRE’s February forecast, which projected 2 percent RevPAR growth based on a 21-basis-point increase in occupancy and a 1.6 percent rise in ADR, the commercial real estate and investment firm said.
