The company plans a multi-million-dollar renovation to begin in Q4

Maya Hotels Expands with Courtyard Charlotte Gastonia Acquisition in 2025

MAYA HOTELS RECENTLY acquired the Courtyard Charlotte Gastonia in Gastonia, North Carolina. This makes the third hotel Maya currently owns in Gaston County and one of eight it has operated hotels in the region over the past 30 years, serving more than 2 million guests.

The 130-room hotel is near Caramont Health, a regional healthcare provider, as well as the Schiele Museum of Natural History, Lineberger Park and Xtreme Xcapes escape room. Amenities include an indoor pool, a marketplace, a fitness center and more than 2,800 square feet of meeting space.


Maya is planning a multi-million-dollar renovation to begin in the fourth quarter that will included the hotel’s public spaces, guest rooms and amenities.

The acquisition of the Gastonia Courtyard is part of Maya’s long-term plan to expand strategically while maintaining its commitment to the communities it serves, the company said.

This renovation will elevate the hotel, from modernized public spaces to refreshed guest rooms, to reflect the high standards for which Maya Hotels is known,” said Parimal Thakor, president of Maya. “We’re focused on maximizing the impact of this property, and we’re confident that the improvements will provide a welcoming and upgraded experience for both our guests and the local community. Last year, Maya celebrated the 25th anniversary of its first ground-up hotel, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Belmont in Belmont, North Carolina. The event marked the hotel's evolution from a 65-room establishment in 1999 to a modern 92-key hotel, while showcasing original site plans, franchise approval letters, snapshots from the 1999 grand opening and earned awards over the years.

U.S. EXTENDED-STAY AND overall hotel RevPAR declined in April, reflecting their long-term correlation, according to The Highland Group. The Highland Group’s “US Extended-Stay Hotels Bulletin: April 2025” reported a 3.6 percent year-over-year increase in extended-stay room nights available.
