INDIAN HOTELS CO. Ltd. signed a new 225-key Taj Mohali in Mohali, Punjab. The greenfield project will take IHCL’s presence in Punjab to 14 hotels, including seven under development.

The hotel will include a swimming pool, gym and health club. It includes a banqueting space of more than 26,000 square feet, IHCL said in a statement.


“Mohali’s emergence as a thriving IT and commercial center is a key growth market in Punjab,” said Suma Venkatesh, IHCL’s executive vice president. “This, coupled with the state’s increasing appeal as a preferred destination for weddings and social events, aligns with our strategy to expand in such high-potential markets.”

Mohali is a planned city in Punjab, known for its modern infrastructure and is home to several IT companies, educational institutions and sports facilities, according to IHCL.

The company recently signed a new 78-key hotel under its Gateway brand in Patnitop, union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The signing brought IHCL’s presence in the state to 12 hotels, including six under development.

MORE THAN EIGHT months after a terror strike in the Baisaran meadows of Pahalgam halted tourism, the resort town is seeing a resurgence in visitors. Local tour operators said tourists have returned ahead of the New Year, though most preferred day trips over overnight stays.

Tourists visiting Pahalgam said they were impressed by Kashmir’s safety and scenery, according to The Hindu BusinessLine.
