EnVision Hotel Boston-Everett in Everett, Massachusetts, a boutique hotel that is part of the Ascend Collection, the soft brand by Choice Hotels International, opened Monday, April 10.
The 101-room property is the first hotel to open in Everett in nearly 70 years. The building was a former sewing factory.
It is the third enVision hotel to join Ascend. Global Vision Hotels developed the full-service “mini-brand” and opened its first enVision five years ago in Boston, a 39-room renovation of a former nursing home in the city’s Longwood neighborhood.
Gautam Sharma is co-founder and president of Global Vision Hotels. The success of the Boston property prompted Global Vision to create enVision Management Co. and scout for land or existing sites in sub-markets where the cost of acquisition would make it economically feasible to build a hotel that offers value, Sharma has said in a December article in Asian Hospitality.
“The support we’ve received from Choice Hotels and the Ascend Hotel Collection has been the driving factor behind our properties’ success and has enabled us to expand the enVision experience for a third time,” said Sharma, in a statement.
A second enVision opened last year in South St. Paul, Minnesota, an 85-room conversion in an historic stockyard area. Development of the fourth enVision hotel is underway, a 90-room conversion in Iowa City, Iowa, also on track to open this year.
The Iowa City hotel will also join Ascend. Janis Canon, senior vice president, upscale brands at Choice, has said in previous articles in Asian Hospitality that a goal of Ascend is to “incubate” innovative lodging concepts by providing technical infrastructure and marketing support.
