STATE HOUSE INN in Springfield, Illinois, celebrated its grand opening on Oct. 17. The 125-room hotel is the second property and first franchised property in The Red Collection, Red Roof’s soft brand launched a year ago.
The State House Inn opening follows the September grand opening of the St. Clair Hotel in Chicago, owned by Westmont Hospitality Group, owner of Red Roof, which manages the landmark hotel.
“The Red Collection is meant to be in the hearts of cities,” said Andrew Alexander, president of Red Roof, at the time of the St. Clair Hotel’s opening. “Growth is being done on a thoughtful and selective basis. We don’t want to grow for growth’s sake. We will open Red Collection hotels where it makes sense.”
Vendian Capital Management Ltd. owns the State House Inn. Packard Hospitality of San Diego, California, is the property manager of the hotel that underwent a full renovation before joining the Red Collection portfolio. Previously, it was a Red Roof Inn. The State House Inn is Vendian’s fourth Red Roof property.
“Springfield, Illinois is the perfect market for a stylish upper-mid-market product like the State House Inn,” said Anton Jivov, managing director of Vendian. “We have invested heavily in bringing the look and feel of this hotel up to date.”
The Springfield market’s business drivers include travelers on government business in the state capital; tourists visiting historic sites such as the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and the Illinois State Museum; and guests whose stays are related to Memorial Medical Center and HSHS St John’s Hospital.
The hotel décor is styled after the mid-century modern movement, staying true to the authenticity of the era in which the hotel was originally built. Guest rooms feature 23 executive one-bedroom suites and two specialty suites – the Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd – all with added amenities.
Other features include The Top Hat Lounge, a bar for light bites and signature drinks; a fitness center with locker rooms; and 5,500 square feet of meeting space.
