Julienne Smith is InterContinental Hotel Group’s new senior vice president for development in the American region. Previously she was senior vice president for development and owner relations at Hyatt Hotels Corp.
Smith will oversee IHG’s presence in the U.S, Canada and the Caribbean for new-builds and conversions to the Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo and EVEN Hotel brands. She also will head the company’s transaction and asset management team.
Smith started her career at Marriott International. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston University and is active with several industry organizations, including AAHOA.
IHG recently reported its net system size grow 5.7 percent in the first half of 2019, its best first-half performance for openings and signings in more than a decade. That increase brought the company to more than 5,700 hotels and 856,000 rooms worldwide.
