From Nov. 11 to Dec. 31, travelers can book a room at a Red Roof hotel using the promo code “Room” and receive a 15 percent discount while Red Roof will donate 15 percent of the cost to the guests’ choice among four charities.

GUESTS AT MAYA Patel’s Red Roof Inn in Saraland, Alabama, as well as every other Red Roof hotel  in the country, will have an extra chance to spread some holiday cheer this season. From Nov. 11 to Dec. 31, they can book a room using the promo code “Room” and receive a 15 percent discount while Red Roof will donate 15 percent of the cost to the guests’ choice among four charities.

It’s part of Red Roof’s “Room in Your Heart” holiday campaign, and Patel said the guest response that she’s seen has been positive.

“A lot of the walk-in guests are not aware of the program, but after explaining the discount along with a portion going to charity they are very pleased,” Patel said. “I think it’s a great thing Red Roof has implemented by giving back, that’s always a great thing and a great feeling.”

Red Roof will donate up to $25,000 to the four charities benefitting from the program. Those charities are:

Flying Horse Farms: A free summer camp for seriously ill children and their families in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, that includes typical camp activities like swimming, fishing and sleeping in a cabin, but with special care to meet the campers’ medical needs.

Canine Companions: Santa Rosa, California-based Canine Companions for Independence provides free trained assistance dogs for children, adults and veterans with disabilities.

Freedom Alliance: Dulles, Virginia-based Freedom Alliance supports American troops and their families with care packages, grants, scholarships, and other programs.

The Sunshine Kids Foundation: Sunshine Kids provides positive group activities for children with cancer.

“These charitable groups are doing amazing work and when guests stay with us for the holidays, they can feel good knowing they are helping us move closer to our giving goal. It’s a win-win for everyone,” said Red Roof Chief Marketing Officer Marina MacDonald.

This is the first year for the program, MacDonald said.

“We hope Room In Your Heart will be an ongoing, annual campaign that always benefits those in need,” she said.

Other hotel companies, including Choice Hotels International, InterContinental Hotels Group, Hilton and Radisson Hotel Group’s Country Inn and Suites by Radisson brand are offering specials to veterans.
