MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL HAS named Warner Robins, Georgia-based PeachState Hospitality its 2018 CONNECT Developer of the Year. The management and development company, under President Rajiv Bhatia and CEO Danny Patel, received the award during Marriott’s 2018 CONNECT Conference in San Diego in December.
The award is given to developers who exceed their goals for real estate projects in a year. During 2018, PeachState developed seven Marriott brand hotels with more than 700 combined rooms. The projects include the 120-room Aloft Alpharetta, Georgia, the 167-room Courtyard in Downtown Dallas, Texas and the dual-branded 72-room Fairfield Inn & Suites and 90-room Courtyard in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
In December, PeachState sold the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Dallas for $49 million to Chatham Lodging Trust, a REIT. The development company broke ground on the Dallas hotel in October 2016 with Equity Hotel Group LLC, led by Bipin Hira, as a partner in the project, which was part of PeachState Hospitality’s $350 million development spree launched in 2016.
The Developer of the Year award belongs to PeachState’s entire staff, Patel said. “It acknowledges that we have a great team of professionals in place and our dedication on making every hotel development a success.”
PeachState begun in 1989 as a family-owned business with a 16-room hotel. It now has 12 branded hotels and plans to develop more in Georgia and Texas. Along with Marriott brands, it has developed or managed Best Westerns, Candlewood Suites and Holiday Inn Express.
